Picking blueberries in the North Channel
The North Channel is famous for having pretty scenery and a lot of islands. On those islands you can find blueberries and interesting places to explore (that will be in the next blog). Blueberries are great. In fact in the North Channel the bears seem to think so too. When you go on to an island you may find that humans or bears have been there before. When you find a island exploding with blueberries you can gather a lot of them, even enough for a blueberry cobbler. We would take a small plastic container while my dad and I explored, mom would collect blueberries for hours. Some of the islands didn’t have much to do on them and not a lot of blueberries.The blueberries where usually in the cracks of the rock and very low to the ground. In some places you could get a handful in just a few seconds. The blueberry picking was fun and I would go do it again if we ever go back to the North Channel.
